A few more comments about the snow...
My snow experience this week has been quite grand, but I must admit there are a few things about Seattle and snow that I find to be quite ridiculous. I grew up in a town in New Mexico where we got a good amount of snow every winter. My first experience of driving with my permit was in the snow in a parking lot where my dad made me skid and swerve on the ice, so I would know how the car reacts on ice and how I should react to the car, etc. Well, today I had to run some errands and I was reminded of one reason I don't care for snow in a city where it rarely snows. As I was driving down a slightly, but not too icy street the three SUV's in front of me were insistent on going 10 mph. Now let me clarify, these were SUV's with 4 wheel drive, going 10 mph. Had it been a two wheel drive car, or a motorcycle, or a bicycle, I would've understood, but SUV's, come on people. If you're going to buy an SUV with 4 wheel drive, please learn how to use it just in case it ever snows in your near vicinity. My second observation about snow and Seattle is that on the UW campus there were still a fair amount of women who decided it was still necessary to wear high heels when there were 2 inches of ice on the ground. I found this amusing, but quite odd. I would think it would be difficult and uncomfortable to walk around in heels on the ice, but to each their own I suppose.
I have a few more pictures from the snow that I took today, and one of them is of the holly tree we have in our front yard now. I have never seen a holly tree before, so it's a bit of a novelty. One shows the road conditions...lots of ice. And the other is a sidewalk shot of our street.
